Costing a Holiday

The cost of hiring a holiday caravan varies depending on the time or year, the quality and age of the caravan, and the location of the park. Caravan parks in the tourist 'honeypots' will be able to charge much more than a small family owned park in the countryside.

Typically a top of the range modern holiday home could cost as much as £1,000 per week in July and August. Smaller parks in less-pupular tourist areas the cost will drop to nearer £500 per week.

In 'low season', March, April, May, September and October the same caravans would cost one fifth of the peak price.

With many holiday caravans having 3 double bedrooms plus the capacity for 2 adults sleeping in the lounge, if two families were to share, then the cost per head would be very good value indeed, even in high season.

John Fowler Holidays Foxy Club Once you are on the park, the costs may continue to rise. Many parks charge membership for the use of their Showbar of Club. All of the many sporting activities and daytime entertainment for the childrem are likely to be chargeable extras too.

There will also be the cost of drinks, confectionary and snacks, all of which will have to be purchased from the park's outlets, possibly at higher than usual prices.
